More and more homeowners are seeing the advantages that external wall insulation and solid wall insulation bring and they’re choosing the FTML team to install it.

External Wall Insulation is effective and represents a sound investment in your home. The most common reasons that our customers install external wall insulation in their houses include:

  • Less heat loss means lower energy bills (average saving of £270)
  • Combats draft and increases the sense of comfort and cosiness in a home
  • Your internal floor area stays the same size
  • No disruption during installation
  • It allows your walls to contribute to your house’s thermal mass, much like the way a tea cosy keeps a kettle warmer for longer
  • The lifespan of your wall increases
  • It majorly reduces the condensation on your internal walls.
  • increases the value of your property.

External Wall Insulation – Three easy steps

Stops moisture penetration from the outside

Moisture can enter a wall from the outside (rain) and from the inside (cooking, drying clothes, washing, breathing, and so on). External wall insulation stops moisture

Insulation is fixed to your outside wall

Our external wall insulation is bonded to the outside walls of your home with mechanical fixings and adhesives. After that, the insulation is then covered with protective layers of render or cladding.

Further enhancing the look of your home

Choose how you want the outside of your home to appear. New weatherproof coating looks great – it can be smooth, textured, painted, tiled, panelled, pebble-dashed or finish to look like masonry bricks.

Understanding Walls and heat loss

Heat Loss from the house

Most houses built since 1920 have cavity walls – that’s where two walls are built with a gap in between. Prior to that, the vast majority of homes were built with a stone wall. How can you tell the difference? Cavity walls have bricks that are laid lengthways with a regular pattern whilst solid walls have an alternating pattern with a long brick followed by a short brick.

Brick Effects

Our teams have a great and unique ability in Brick Work and have completed a number of houses and blocks with Brick effects.
