Cavity Wall Insulation

Most houses built since 1920 have cavity walls – that’s where two walls are built with a gap inbetween.
Prior to that, the vast majority of homes were built with a stone wall. How can you tell the
difference? Cavity walls have bricks that are laid lengthways with a regular pattern whilst solid
walls have an alternating pattern with a long brick followed by a short brick.

insulation, the average detached house will save 1,120kg in carbon dioxide emissions every year.
Want to know what that means in practical terms? A 42” LCD TV could be left on for 250 days and
an average car could be driven for 38 hours non-stop. The savings do really make a difference to
the environment.
